INGREDIENTS TO GRAB TO MAKE THE SIMPLE IRISH PUB BURGER
This recipe consists of mostly household pantry items. Here's what you'll need:
- Ground Beef- Lean works best. Be sure to grab a pack that has a little fat content, at least 15% or higher.
- Ground Pork- This provides the burger with extra texture and flavor. If you are not a pork eater, omit this part and double up on the ground beef.
- Season All- Use your favorite seasoning blends that pair well with BBQ flavors. Here's the seasoning blend I used.
- Cheddar Cheese- Shredded or pre sliced works.
- Salt & Pepper- Used to season the meat.
- Butter- Helps to caramelize the outside of the burger and onions!
- Water-Will help sweat the onions during caramelization.
- Large Red Onion- I used a red onion but use what you have on hand!
- Crunchy Onions-These will be on top of the burger. I use these.
- Thick Cut Bacon-Thick cut bacon works best. I used a cherry, applewood flavor and it was perfect!
- Arugula- Provides a nutty texture and flavor that pairs well with the listed ingredients. Spinach or lettuce will work as well!
- Bread and Butter Pickles (sweet pickles)- These pickles pair perfectly with the flavors in the burger, do not omit this ingredient. (and trust me, I love dill pickles)

Start by prepping the burger patties by placing ground beef and pork in a large bowl. Season with salt, pepper, Angelic Devil Seasoning (or favorite season all) and Cask Strength Spicy Whisky BBQ Sauce. Then, massage and combine beef mixture until thoroughly combined being careful not to over mix. Separate the meat mixture into four equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
Next, place the patties on a lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least thirty minutes. While burgers are marinating, prep additional toppings by preparing bacon according to package instructions and setting aside until further use.
Then, prepare the caramelized onions
First, thinly slice onion and set aside. Then, in a medium sized skillet on medium/high heat, add one teaspoon of butter. Next, saute onions until soft, translucent and browned.
It's important to note, during the cooking process add water (3 tablespoon at a time) to help with the cooking process as the onions begin to stick to the pan. Lastly, once onions are caramelized, set aside until further use.
Let's cook the burgers!
Begin by heating a cast iron skillet or large frying pan, place remaining butter on medium to high heat. Then remove marinated burgers from the fridge. Once the pan reaches heat level, add burger balls to the pan and begin searing.
