    WHAT ARE MINI DONUT COOKIES?

Every now and again (probably more than often), I give in and allow my daughter to have a treat and this recipe is perfect! In detail, these mini donut cookies are in fact cookies and not donuts. To explain, small round vanilla flavored cookies are prepped with a small hole, dipped in yogurt to give the illusion of icing and lastly topped with fun sprinkles!

While these donut inspired treats look like donuts, they absolutely taste like a tasty, crunchy cookie! And the best part is this is a fun project that even your toddlers will enjoy creating.

WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN THESE QUICK THREE INGREDIENT MINI DONUT COOKIES?

In this paragraph, I'll discuss the ingredients for this recipe! Growing up, my Dad was the ultimate snacker! As a result, Nilla Wafers were one of his favorite snacks, do you remember this nostalgic treat? Any how, here are the three ingredients in this recipe!

    • Nilla Wafers
    • Strawberry Yogurt

HOW ARE THE THREE INGREDIENT MINI DONUT COOKIES PREPARED?

With just three ingredients, these cookies are ready for devouring. The only prep required is finding a utensil to create the small holes in the cookies to resemble a real donut.

First, identify the "pretty" cookies that have the least amount of blemish. The best cookies are those that are still in tact, round and not broken. Then, identify what type of yogurt you'd like to top the cookies with. I used strawberry but any flavor will work!

How To Prep The Hole In The Cookie

Next, using the desired tool of your choice, poke a small hole into the cookie until it resembles a small donut. In detail, I did this step before I allowed my daughter to join in. For example, I used a sharp ice pick and slowly created a hole in the cookie, being careful not to break it.

How To Add Icing To The Cookie

At this point, it's time to add the icing to the cookie which is yogurt that will resemble icing. It's important to note, to stir the yogurt first, so the consistency is smooth. Then, with a small spoon carefully frost the mini cookies with yogurt, using about ½ teaspoon amount.

How To Sprinkle The Three Ingredient Mini Donut Cookies

Now the most fun part begins! Choose the sprinkles of your choice and have fun covering the cookies with yogurt with sprinkles. It's important to note, there's no rhyme or reason to this method and you should absolutely have fun!

Storing The Cookies Before Enjoying Them!

Now that the cookies are almost ready to be enjoyed, for best results store the cookies in the freezer for a half hour to one hour so the cookies do not get soggy! If you do not have time and would like to consume them as is, that's fine to!

SUBSTITUTIONS FOR THE MINI DONUT COOKIES

Next, here a few substitutions that will work just as great with these cookies.

Don't have yogurt? For instance, you can use dark or white chocolate. Just melt and lightly dip using the same method as the yogurt. I tested these with a white chocolate icing first and it was too sweet for our liking but by all means, use chocolate!

Don't have nilla wafers? Honelsty, any cookie will do! Similarly, oreos could work just remove the filling and use both cookies to make two cookies. More importantly, get creative, there are no rules!

Don't have sprinkles at home? In fact, why not make some at home! My foodie friend Amanda has an easy recipe to make homemade sprinkles with simple household ingredients!
