Warmer weather is here, cool off with the best sangria margarita boozy pops! With rose' and frozen mango swirled with classic frozen margaritas, you'll wonder why you never paired the two before now!
I'm a huge wine drinker after becoming a Mom, it just seems fitting right? At times, I want to step it up a notch and I'll amp things up with sangria or a margarita!
I've had a frozen drink similar to these popsicles before and the flavors mesh so well together! Fruity and booze-y with the perfect amounts of each throughout. If you've never paired different libations before, this is the perfect way to try it out!
If you've noticed, these popsicles look different in shape, I mimicked these from a childhood favorite of mine called "Huckabucks"! On Instagram, I had a chat in my stories about favorite childhood treats! If you prepare this recipe as listed, consider this complete nostalgia.

A huckabuck is a kid friendly treat originating from Louisiana and Georgia but enjoyed in places all over! Traditionally made with flavored kool-aid in a paper cup, it's then frozen and served with a spoon. They are normally sold by a "candy lady" in neighborhoods at a very cheap price. Depending on the region, these treats are called, huckabucks, hucklebucks, freeze cups, frozen cups, cool cups, and much more!
Tips for making Huckabucks :
- Use the best premium wine and tequila you can afford.
- Rose' was used in this recipe but any white wine will work.
- Allow time to make this treat as there are a few extra steps with creating the sangria and margarita layers.
- Make sure the honey is warm when adding to the frozen margarita mix.
- If not using honey, you can make a simple simple syrup with sugar and water to cut the lime tartness.
- Popsicle sticks are optional, they are just easier to enjoy.
- Use your favorite fruit for the sangria.
- Margaritas can be made with flavor, try pineapple or strawberry!
- Prep ingredients by setting up a station.
- Use a timer so you don't forget to add the popsicle sticks and additional layers!
Here's how the popsicles come together!
Classic Frozen Margarita
In a blender, place ice, frozen limeade concentrate, tequila and warmed honey and blend until smooth. Pour margarita into a pitcher or large container and store in the freezer until assembly.
Mango Wine Slush/Sangria
In a blender, place frozen mango and wine and blend until smooth. Place paper cups on a tray. The first layer will be the mango wine slush. Depending on the size of the cup, pour 1-2 inches worth of slush in the cup and freeze for one hour.
After the first hour, slowly add popsicle sticks and pour margarita mix as the next layer. Freeze for another hour. Repeat these steps until the cup is full ending with the mango slush as the last layer.
Enjoy these popsicles (huckabucks) on a stick if preferred and use the cup as a holder for easy use and enjoy!
