Massage and combine beef mixture until thoroughly combined being careful not to over mix. Separate the meat mixture into four equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
Place on a lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least thirty minutes.
While burgers are marinating, prep additional toppings by preparing bacon according to package instructions and setting aside until further use.
Caramelized Onion
Thinly slice onion and set aside.
In a medium sized skillet on medium/high heat, add one teaspoon of butter.
Saute onions until soft, translucent and browned.
During the cooking process add water (3 tablespoon at a time) to help with the cooking process as the onions begin to stick to the pan.
Once onions are caramelized, set aside until further use.
