  • Muddler
  • 2 Cocktail Glasses
  • Small Strainer

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Fresh Blackberries
  • ½ cup Sour Mix
  • ¼ teaspoon Orange Bitters
  • 2 tablespoon Honey
  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 2 small Jalapeños
  • 1 tablespoon Tajin or Chili Lime Salt
  • 1 oz Mint

Instructions

  • First, if you are preparing this recipe as instructed. You will need to start with preparing the homemade sour mix first.
  • It takes about 15 minutes as you will need to squeeze fresh lemons and limes. Head over to that post first and circle back!
  • If not, refer to the blog notes under tips and tricks to prepare the simple syrup.

Dress the Cocktail Glasses

  • Begin by taking two short cocktail glasses and a small plate or paper towel, pour about two tablespoons of Tajin or chili lime salt onto the flat surface.
  • Take a lemon or lime wedge and moisten the rim of the glass. This will be the binding agent to help the Tajin or salt adhere to the glass.
  • Simply dip the moistened rim of the glass into the salt, turning the glass counter or counterclockwise around until the entire rim is dressed in the seasoning. Set aside until further use.

Prepare the Blackberry Margarita

  • Take the cocktail shaker and add the fresh blackberries and jalapeno (optional) to the cup.
  • Using the muddler, begin smashing the blackberries and jalapeno together until the ingredients break down, forming a syrup. This step takes a couple of minutes. You will know the syrup is ready when it has transformed into a soup like texture.
  • Now, add in a few ice cubes and begin adding the remaining ingredients. Pour in the tequila, sour mix, honey and orange bitters.
  • Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. It will be helpful to use a straw to taste the recipe and adjust to your liking.
  • Begin by adding a few ice cubes to each glass. Using the small strainer, pour the contents out of the shaker into each glass being careful to divide evenly.
  • Then, garnish the drink with fresh blackberries, jalapeño and mint! Now it's time to enjoy!
